I love Amazon. You can always find something you want; books, DVDs, videos and an endless array of merchandise. Plus, they make it so easy to order with free shipping, an Amazon credit card and the ability to purchase Amazon gift cards to share.
The last is a favorite of mine; giving Amazon gift cards is a great way to say thank you for performance above and beyond or just to recognize the work someone does for you. It might be a co-worker or a member of your support staff, a neighbor who has helped in a crisis, a friend who is feeling down or a family member who is difficult to shop for.
Another way I use Amazon gift cards is to show appreciation for people who help on special projects. Not long ago there was a woman who was part of our support team that helped me with a successful customer upgrade. She is located in India – a far cry from my United States home. I was pleased with the quality and timeliness of her work and at the end of the project, I sent her a link to an Amazon gift card.
Recently she sent me a lovely thank you email with a photo of the watch she purchased with the gift card and this message:
Hope you doing good. Missing you. JJ, do you remember you sent me Amazon gift card once I ordered one GUESS watch out of that.
Have a look of the watch I ordered. This is a gift from your side and I loved it!
A simple gesture of thanks, through Amazon, helped to solidify our working relationship, demonstrate my thanks and also shorten the distance between countries. I imagine that when she looks at the watch she will remember the project we worked on together.
Saying thank you has more benefit and long term relationship impact that you might imagine. Adding a little something to your thank you like an Amazon gift card or tickets to a movie or a certificate to a local restaurant is a real and tangible way to express your thanks.
